After having a horribly horrible long run last week I was a tad nervous about this week.
Run 3 and 5 mile went good! It's been cool this week so I hadn't been battling heat and humidity so that's been good! Still struggling though with my tight shins which kicked in on my last 3 mile run before my long weekend run of 10 miles. But I went to Twitter and got great feedback of icy my shins and wearing compression socks to bed and not on my run so that's what I did for 2 days and there comes Saturday!
I left my house and it was cool, packed very lightly with no water. Took my Energy Bits, breakfast, brought some dates and chewed gum so my mouth didn't get dry (my allergies won't let me breathe through my nose) and the run started off good...I kept thinking ok no shin pain this is good...keep going... And I trudged on at a great pace. Found a beautiful trail and thought "why not?!" I flew through that trail. Jumping over roots, inclines and declines no pain or fatigue in sight. I was happy and felt so free!!!! It was one of those rare runs. I didn't make it to 10 miles I did 8.39 but those where the best miles I've done in a year. I didn't care.
I can't believe it's been 5 weeks!! I'm getting crazy racing fever and going home to run is the only thing on my mind right now :)
